Low Hanging Fruit
The obvious things to fix for the United States
There are a lot of layers that need to go into fixing the United States. Here are just a handful that come to mind that I will elaborate on in future posts:
The Security and Exchange Commission needs to have outside oversight and should only be allowed to enforce laws, not dictate rules.
Agricultural subsidies need to stop.
The Telecommunications industry needs to be broken up into much smaller pieces.
Health Care Industry needs to be broken up to get rid of conflicts of interest. There should be no parent company that owns pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies and health care facilities and networks.
Copyright and Trademark laws need to be amended so that Americans can actually participate in and contribute to our own culture.
Multi-national corporations need to be outlawed from participating in the political process at all and should be highly monitored or prohibited from owning land, controlling natural resources or running functions that are inherent to government functions.
Invest in replacing rotting infrastructure.
Eliminate voting machines and tighten absentee ballot requests.
Basically, we need to go full Terran mode like our people did in Starshatter.
Go a step farther with #6. No one can donate to a candidate. It must be sent to a general election fund that equally divides the funds across all valid candidates. The real problem is the free donation of services and time by corporations and individuals through "volunteering" which results in billions of dollars of contributions outside the normal structure of campaign financing that are the most effective methods of influencing the elections. So I'm not sure how to stop that.
Add: #9 - Incentivize the nuclear family by taking away child credits for single parents and restricting them to married parents where both parents are in the household. Further restrict all WIC/EBT/SNAP funds to strictly food and services for children. Additionally, if you cannot have a single income family, and you haven't elimintated the overwhelming tax burden on a family where they need both parents working, that is where your subsidy should be so one parent can remain at home with the children rearing them better and safer than every daycare that ever existed.
#10 - Age restrict smart phones, social media and tablets to adults only.
#11 - Allow parents the right to defend their children from predators including lethal force. There's no recitivism from dead monsters.
